Fresh Flowers

Sustainability is a huge trend in weddings over the past few years and using organic and natural decoration is a great way to incorporate it into your wedding. Using seasonal, edible flowers instead of plastic or icing is a trend we love and are seeing more of. We’ll see more pressed flowers adding a pop of freshness and colour to wedding cakes, large and small turning them into delicious works of art. They’re ideal for a natural or boho theme and flowers can be customised to your colour scheme. Edible flowers include pansies, cornflowers and salvias.

Free-From Cakes

Allergen-aware cakes are becoming more and more popular. Whether the bride or groom are gluten intolerant, gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, or they are catering to guests with allergies, there is a rise in demand for these bespoke, allergen-free cakes. Thanks to baking developments in the last few years and an increase in the availability of good quality gluten-free & vegan ingredients, free-from cakes are just as delicious as their counterparts. In fact, your guests likely won’t be able to tell the difference!

Traditional Wedding Cake

It may be overshadowed by modern flavours like Biscoff and Oreo, but a traditional wedding cake is always a classic. A truly traditional wedding cake is made from fruit cake as this is known for its longevity. We’ve even heard stories about wives who still have a slice of their wedding cake in the freezer decades later! Modernise the classic white cake with ruffles, sugar flowers, wafer paper, intricate piping, fresh flowers, or gold leaf which will provide lovely detailing to make your traditional cake stand out.

Mix & Match

A great wedding cake starts from the inside. The internet gives us infinite inspiration to draw from and wedding cakes are no different. We’re no longer tied to choosing between chocolate and vanilla, you can incorporate all of your favourite flavours into your cake. Orange, lemon, lavender, cookies & cream, cherry – anything goes when you have the right baker to help you. You can have traditional fruit cake, sponge, chocolate biscuit, red velvet – or a combination of your favourites. You can mix and match colours and styles to suit your theme too.

Naked Cakes

Wedding cakes are traditionally covered in a thick layer of royal icing, which is not to everyone’s taste. Naked cakes don’t have any icing, hence the title. They are baked and stacked with plenty of filling to add flavour and finished with a scrape of crumb coat to keep things together. They’re just as tasty as those with icing and it allows the flavour of the sponge to shine through. You can focus more on the décor of the cake table, adding flowers or other decorations to help it stand out.

Grand Wedding Cakes

Maximalism is having a resurgence. We’re seeing the return of huge, gravity-defying cakes as focal points to wedding décor. These beautiful cakes are often built on custom cake stands so they can withstand the weight of these giant creations. Intricate details are key with huge cakes to give them character and style. Best of all they feed all of your guests multiple times with plenty to take home and share with your neighbours.
