Horse Racing

Kildare, arguably the equine capital of the world, has the busiest racing calendar in Ireland with 34 days of racing between the Curragh, Naas Racecourse and Punchestown race courses. The region has a strong equine tradition that includes Show jumping, Dressage, Hunting, Eventing, Racing, Breeding and Point to Point. With all this equine activity comes a way of life that involves the best of everything and Osprey Hotel is at the heart of it all.

Curragh Racecourse

The Curragh Racecourse is located only 15 minutes from Osprey Hotel. The Curragh hosts many race meeting throughout the year with the Irish Guineas Festival attracting the biggest crowd. The two day festival is typically held in the last weekend of May.

Naas Racecourse

With 17 events throughout the year, Naas Racecourse is often considered the hub of horse racing in Kildare. Located less than 10 minutes drive from Osprey Hotel, Naas racecourse offers top class horse racing, family fun days, summer barbeque evenings and much more.

Japanese Gardens & National Stud

The Irish National Stud’s Japanese Gardens, renowned throughout the world and the finest of their kind in Europe, are far more than simply a treat for the eye. They also provide comfort to the soul, achieving exactly the objective that was set out when the gardens were created between 1906 and 1910. They are open Monday to Sunday (including bank Holidays) 9am – 6pm. Last admission is 5pm. Located 20 minutes away from the Osprey Hotel.

Barge Trips

Experience the Grand Canal the way it was intended and take a leisurely cruise on a restored traditional Canal Barge. The barge is available for private hire for groups any day of the week and operates up to 6 scheduled cruises daily at weekends. Operates Monday to Sunday – 10am -5pm. Located 10 minute drive from the Osprey Hotel.

Blessington Lakes
